Ngara, TZ – Garden club student has graduated and built a market garden business – 30 Nov 2021
DV has successfully applied his organic growing knowledge and experience in vegetable gardening to generate a predictable income. He was among a group of Mukibogoye club garden students who graduated in 2019. At that time he built a garden to grow vegetables for food and selling.
He uses part of the harvest of carrots, cabbage, amaranth for food at home, and sells the rest. Keeping the garden productive and assisting other families with their needs keeps him very busy.
DV is being challenged by a lack of essential gardening tools like watering cans, insufficient farming land and capital for sustainable harvests. Consequently, local social enterprise SODAT will see how he might be assisted. He is dreaming of expanding the garden for more income, and also assisting with training local youth to fight against poverty and laziness in order to earn their own income.
