Siem Reap, KH – New central park offers happy times for the RTO community’s children – Apr 2025

The central park in the Peaksneng Rent-to-Own (RTO) home community now has playground equipment, and the children are loving playing on it. The RTO community would not be complete without the community playground and Park. They are among the most important places in the community, because they contribute not only to physical development but also to social and emotional growth for the children in the community.

Peaksneang Tormacheat Garden shop and Better Lives planned a RTO commmunity with space for a central park and play ground back in 2015 before building the first home. The idea was to create a friendly and peaceful environment where the parents could socialize and children make friends.

The playing equipment like football field, swings, slides, and seesaws etc. enhance physical and caring skills of the children and parents in the RTO community. Another thing we observed with the children, is that their engagement with other children is promoting the development of social skills such as patience and sharing. Sometimes, children bring food that they share with other children while playing.

When playing in the park, children make new friends as they spend time together. This helps them build healthier social relationships as adults. Aside from the health and social aspects that a community playground can offer, there are a number of other benefits. When a playground is placed in a park or area with trees and bushes, no matter how small, it benefits the environment by providing a place for birds and small animals to live. This creates an enriched environment where members of the community can go to enjoy listening to nature’s birdsong music!
