Mt Kilimanjaro, TZ – Lishe Bora employee finishes paying pig loans, prepares to sell pigs – 1 April 2016
Lishe Bora employee Laurenti has finshed making loan repayments on a pig-fattening loan he received in October 2015. He is especially excited to finish repayments because he has not even sold the pigs. He repaid the loan using small weekly salary deductions. That means that when he sells the pigs he will be able to put all of the money towards making life improvements instead of loan repayments.
Laurenti received a loan of 300,000 TZS (US $143.86) for two piglets, food, and medicine. They are now reaching seven months in age, which is the best age to sell them. He will be hoping to make between 200,000 TZS (US $95.24) and 300,000 TZS per pig.
In addition to the two pigs he purchased with the loan Laurenti purchased two additional pigs which are also becoming ready to sell. His family is hoping to use the funds for improving their kitchen and paying school fees.
