Moshi, TZ – KFM family garden – 1 Aug 2013

KFM is a local farmer who was eager to start a Tupendane organic vegetable garden because it would help him feed his four grandchildren who he and his wife care for.  Mrs KFM is away working as administrator near the local town of Moshi during the week, and returns at weekends.

After qualifying for garden assistance, the Tupendane team helped the KFM family start their garden on 29 July 2013.  The garden is situated near the family home on their 2 acre farm.  To cut down on the cost of petrol for the water pump, 59 year old KM is using a 20 liter bucket and rope to fetch water from his well to a 100 liter water barrel.  He then waters the garden with a watering can.
