Ngara, TZ – SODAT’s Support to Improve Breakfast Serving to Schools’ children – Feb 2025
SODAT, in partnership with Better Lives, has provided essential utensil replacements to Kabalenzi, Mukibogoye and Mukirehe schools to assist with improving the breakfast service to the students.

This initiative is part of the Parents Assistance Award Program (PAAP) for schools when parents assist the school. The aim of the utensil replacement is to improve the services that support the Grow-own-Breakfast (GOB) program. This PAAP award benefits 2,300 students by supplying essential items such as 20 water buckets for the garden and 12 cooking pots for the kitchen.

The GOB program delivers daily breakfast for all students plus lunch for classes 4 and 7 due to their extended hours in school to cover topics and preparations for national exams. Parents have volunteered to contribute ingredients and repair ten leaky pots, while teachers dedicated their time and energy teaching for good performance. SODAT has supported with cooking equipment and is covering the flour milling costs.
SODAT, schools and parents have formed a committee to oversee the breakfast service. It includes sustainable parent ingredients contributions to build an annual stock that ensures long-term sustainability. The goal is to improve the students’ health, attendance and performance, in order to help them achieve a future life full of success.
