Ngara, TZ – GSK believes that owning land is vital – Sep 2023
GSK has purchased an acre of land after MVG VICOBA’s earnings and savings were divided as shares to its members in August this year. GSK received 1,500,000 TZS, and he investested 1 million TZS for purchasing an acre of land in his village of Mukibogoye. The rest he has saved for purchasing avocado and coffee seedlings from MVG VICOBA’S nursery, for transplanting onto his acre of land to grow one hundred avocado trees and two hundred coffee plants. He wil have a market for their fruit because avocado and coffee have international markets.
GSK has been a cook at Mukibogoye Primary School, and is now assisting the school Grow-own-Breakfast (GoB) program in the banana and vegetable gardens. GSK wants to be a farmer and business man in the future. He already has a rice trading business, and now says that “owning land is a very vital thing because it’s a permanent asset for the family and the children”.
He plans to invest in more land in the future for commercial organic growing of corn, beans, rice and fruits to supply the potential organic market. This will encourage his children and other farmers’ families to practice more organic methods that will give them health benefits.
