Moshi, TZ – Children when assisted are proving to make their own daily breakfast at schools – Feb 2023
Assurance of daily breakfast availability for children in primary schools in Kahe is one of the major Challenges, which becomes Top priority for Tupendane to design a sustainable Process and Parts to be used by Children themselves, Teachers and Parents when managing their own school feeding program to become sustainable while led by a key strategy of self-ownership.
Tupendane has been organizing training and supervising the children garden clubs in the Banana and Vegetable gardens.
This is enabling Tupendane to reduce its resource investments and instead improve different processes of the program towards raising the level of the ownership of the children and teachers.
The competitive clubs of children has been motivated with winners receiving gifts and prizes and that has created amazing participation level, while raising so much Joy among the children during collaboration of their work practicing. This has contributed to good continuous harvests, and meals preparation for feeding themselves.
Tupendane team is also benefiting from this whereby we are now able to work only 3 days per week in the schools from the 5 days we used to do previous and this is a great step towards the sustainability of Tupendane as a Social Enterprise and the individual team members who are now focused on investing our saved resources into our own private business for our sustainable future.
We are experiencing a challenge of more friendly and enough infrastructure of the site to create a more Enjoyable running of the program in this new design where the main labor force are the children clubs. In future we will be working with the assistance of our partner Betterlives to design and obtain Resources for improving the infrastructures.
