Kilimanjaro, TZ – FJK mother keeps children in school despite challenges – 15 Jan 2020
FJK mother works hard as a day laborer and uses her agricultural income to provide a better education for her children.
FJK mom is a widow raising 5 children, 3 of which are school age. She spends a lot of her time working different jobs around the community to support her children’s school fees. Additionally, she uses her small dary cow project and banana field to support her family.
She understands that by working hard for her children, they’ll have a more productive future and be able to support her later on in life. Each week of schooling attended can have big implications later in life for children.
However, the majority of her take-home pay goes to her children’s school fees. This means she lacks the ability to save and invest in things like a proper bed to sleep in. Fortunately, Lishe Bora helps maintain her family garden.
She hopes to continue working different jobs around the community and maintaining her agribusiness projects to maintain her children’s education
