Utete, TZ – Refurbished secondary school library gives students a place to study – 24 Feb 2016
Students at Utete Secondary School are happy to have a place to study with hundreds of books. Private donations for construction work and a visit by Parmiters School students contributing books have helped create a school library with novels, textbooks, atlases, and even a set of encyclopedias.
The school had accrued a number of books from government and private donations but the students did not have any place to sit and study with the books. Students are allowed to take between one and four books home, depending on grade level. Private donations helped Better Lives sponsor repairs to the room and construction of tables and chairs so students had a comfortable place to study.
“Now the students have a very nice place to study,” explained headteacher Mr. Bassa, “This means we must focus now on getting a complete collection of books. We have a lot of science books. What we are lacking is books about the history, geography, and physics of Tanzania.”
