Battambang, KH – YY sells her pigs and invests in her home – 25 Dec 2015

The YY family have just sold the five pigs that they purchased using a micro-loan from the Healthy Life Garden Shop and earned US$200 profit! They used their earnings to buy bricks for the eventual improvement of their home and are saving the remaining funds for their grandchildren’s school fees.

The Blue Ear disease outbreak that devastated Cambodia this year affected the price of locally raised pigs, so YY received a below average price per kilo. However, She was happy that none of her pigs were affected by the disease and that she was able to earn a profit.

She is now looking forward to raising more pigs and is also interested in raising cattle because of the high price they fetch at the local market.
