Utete, TZ – New home and water connection are a step change for family – 20 Nov 2015
Jumanne is the oldest son in the family and he earns the most consistent income. He is an employee of the KCM Garden Shop and he tends his own acres of farmland outside of the village. Because Jumanne has a good track record over two years working with KCM he was able to receive a water connection loan and a home improvement loan. Parmiters School contributed labor and loan capital for Jumanne when they visited in summer 2015.
Now that he has provided his family with a safe home and water supply, Jumanne is planning to improve the family’s toilet and connect the home to the electric lines so that his siblings can study at night. Creating a better life and more opportunities for his siblings and young cousins is one of the most important motivations for Jumanne. His dream is for them to study as long as they need to in order to realize their dreams.
For himself, Jumanne hopes that he can continue to improve his work skills so he can make more money. He would like to learn how to drive a truck and also increase the amount of land he is able to farm each year. If he can do all that and save some money, his other dream is to purchase DJ equipment so he can play at parties and weddings in nearby Utete.
