Moshi, TZ – AMU family garden – 11 Oct 2013
The AMU family started their garden using a different bed layout than the standard, but after seeing the benefits of the standard layout, they decided to change to it. The family garden has six beds that are performing well with okra, ngogwe (African eggplant) and mnavu (African nightshade). The other six beds will be reformed with compost and rice hull charcoal and then planted with kale, eggplant, and mchicha.
The Tupendane team boasts that the AMU family has the best ngogwe in the village, which the family eat regularly along with their eggplant and okra.
Mama AMU has put an emphasis on putting mulch on her vegetable beds, to protect them from the hot weather that they are expecting from November to January.
