Moshi, TZ – Maendeleo primary school well – 29 Aug 2013

The Maendeleo primary school did not have access to suitable water for a vegetable garden so Tupendane, with the help of a Better Lives sponsor, arranged for a well to be dug at the school.  This was done because starting gardens at local schools is one way to advertise the benefits of an organic vegetable garden to families, while teaching the school children about organic gardening practices.

Hand dug well 5 meters deep, 10 meters to go!

A local mama will be hired to help build and maintain the vegetable garden, so that it becomes productive and a good example of best practice techniques.
