Siem Reap, KH – Family support helps the KN family recover from house fire – 29 Apr 2016
The KN family experienced a disaster when their house and garden burned down. A neighbor was burning his rice field and the fire got out of control. Luckily, the family had time to evacuate themselves, their livestock and valuables. KN, his wife and two small children are now living with his wife’s parents; the SOL family, who welcomed them into their home gladly.
The SOL family have one of the best gardens in Peaksneng and KN is glad to help them water, weed and make seedlings for relay planting. KN also contributes to the family income by selling ducks and chickens which can earn him US$20 per month. The poultry provides much needed protein in their diets for the two families living together.
Although, the loss of their house was tragic, KN and his wife have remained positive. They have applied to the Peaksneng Thormacheat Rent-to-own program and are hopeful they will be accepted. This will allow them to live in a secure home while making payments to eventually own the house and the land it is on.
