Utete, TZ – KCM Banana Harvest Improves Breakfast serving to the Community – Mar 2025
The KCM team harvested two banana bunches from their organic garden since launching the banana farming project last year, they are now proud to use the harvest to feed the needy children and the elderly in the area.
With the support of True Adventure trips last summer by high school students from Switzerland, Ireland and UK, the Grow-Own-Breakfast (GOB) project was greatly improved. They built a secure fence, a compost shed, and planted banana trees. A water storage tank was also installed, along with an irrigation system, which has significantly boosted production from 10 to 15 kilograms per day. This increase in yield is more than enough to provide for the FRRTL children and elderly in the community who deserve support.

The KCM team, along with dedicated volunteer families, are proud to see bananas being served breakfast at the first time. This combining bananas with green vegetables, serves as a healthy and nourishing alternative to the usual porridge. Served every school day, it has contributed to better school attendance and improved academic performance by providing essential nutrients for the children’s growth.
KCM aims to share knowledge, to ensure a steady supply of nutritious breakfasts in their strategic program schools. They also plan to sell the surplus ripened bananas to help fund additional nutrition programs in the community. The green bananas can be cooked with green vegetables, beans, meat, or fish, and provide vital nutrients like vitamins A, B6, and C, all of which are crucial for our health in the community.

The KCM team continues to make a lasting impact, improving lives and building a healthier, more self-sufficient community through her organic garden production.
