Utete, TZ – LKK aims to change her family story and assist her community – Dec 2024

LKK is a 20-year-old single mother living with her two children, three siblings, and her biological mother. She is determined to change her family’s story, and dedicated to supporting other families and children in her community.

In August 2024, LKK joined the Vicoba Volunteer Families “VVF” Group to gain knowledge in organic gardening and help to provide breakfast to families and children in her society. LKK is committed to making a difference, she volunteers her time and energy to assist KCM and fellow volunteers members in delivering nutrition services in schools.

Through her volunteer work, LKK gains daily vegetables for her children, participates in the Vicoba savings program with her colleagues, and works together with others on solution options to life’s challenges, sharing knowledge and experiences, and creating strategies for achieving economic recovery goals.

LKK ‘s goals are to learn sewing and apply for a sewing loan to improve her finances and invest in the Vicoba and build a better house for her family to live in. The house she currently lives in has a thatched roof that is worn out and leaks during the rainy season. Her dream is to rent and then own a Rent-to-Own house built of sticks and mud walls with a galvanized tin sheet roof.

She is confident about targeting to pay 40,000 shillings / US$16 every month in collaboration with her family members. She believes that achieving Rent-to-Own home ownership is important because it will give her children a stable and secure environment to grow up in.
