Kilimanjaro TZ – MGA family saves income to build a new house – 15 Jul 2018
The MGA family has almost finished construction of a new home. They have already moved in to the home and now they are saving for the final touch – a new door.
After the family got a water connection they expanded their vegetable garden to increase their income. They sold vegetables and a homemade banana brew from their home. They saved money for almost two years until they had enough money to begin construction.
The MGA Family is a big family, they support nine children and grandchildren at their home. Building a bigger, weatherproof home was necessary to provide a more comfortable living space for the family.
The MGA family hopes to invest a home goods store to sell soap, salt, cooking oil, and other necessary items that will help provide additional income to support their large family. They pay nearly 950,000 TZS (USD $435) each year in school fees and that number will go up next year when their oldest granddaughter goes to vocational school.
