Moshe, TZ – Expedition Company, UK School and Australian Sponsor join forces to assist Ginja Primary School – Nov 2024
A few years ago, Tupendane trained Ginja Primary School to create an organic vegetable and banana garden to provide daily meals for the children. This initiative has led to improved health, attendance, and academic performance among the students. Motivated by these positive changes, parents, the local village government, Tupendane, and international partners like Better Lives and True Adventures have expanded the garden. UK students from Parmiter’s School also visited to assist with facility and garden improvements, which boosted the grateful parents’ enthusiasm for assisting the school.
However, the school’s irrigation system is inadequate to support both its water needs and garden irrigation. Tupendane requested financial support to build a water tank stand and install an electric pump. Thanks to a generous sponsor in Australia and Parmiter’s School raising funds in UK, construction work on Ginja Primary School’s water distribution system is underway.
The goal is to achieve a more reliable Grow-own-Breakfast program for the school children, and eventually generate income for the program’s self-sustainability by selling surplus vegetables and bananas. Tupendane’s next goal is to build a fence around the gardens to protect the harvests from stray animals and thieves.
