Utete, TZ – DFT delivery business taking another shape and growing – Sep 2024
The DFT family embarked on a transformative journey when it successfully secured a loan of 4.8 million TZS in 2019 from KCM in collaboration with BL, accompanied by a 1 million TZS deposit to purchase a toyo — a small three wheel tucktuk motorcycle and trailer used for cargo transport.
DFT has not only paid off the loan but also built a savings reserve of over 2 million TZS, for financial cushion to operate and protect his growing cargo transportation business. DFT says “It is now time to do an overall service of the toyo to renew its efficiency for my business, so I can maintain earnings and savings every week.”
Starting with a modest investment, DFT’s transportation service capitalized on the increasing demand for transportation solutions due a growth in accessible villages and towns. His strategic decision to invest in the toyo paid off, enabling him to offer reliable and affordable transportation services. These quality services lead to a loyal client base who always chooses his services for their cargo transport needs.
DFT’s vision includes weekly savings to the Village Community Banking (VICOBA) group for acquiring additional trucks to meet rising transport demand from growing towns. Ultimately hhe wants to establish a transportation company that provides job opportunities for young people in the community, by fostering relationships with local employers and supporting the transport of goods to key cities. Through sustainable growth and strategic investments, he hopes to not only enhance his business but also contribute positively to the economic development of the region.
