Ngara, TZ – JSK business is using opportunities to grow one step at a time – Aug 2024
JSK employed as a gardener at Mukibogoye Primary School gardening for students breakfast. He fully paid 2,884,000 TZS loan for his rent-own motorcycle for the rice delivery businesses by maintaining savings with his Village Community Banking (Vicoba) group.
The Vicoba savings assisted JSF to fully pay his loan and buy one and a quarter acres of land for agriculture, and plan future investments in his village. JSK is planning mixed farming by intercropping coffee and bananas on one acre, and the rest of land mixed farming Cassava, corn and beans for commercial and home food security for the next farming season.
His rice delivery business has a good flow of customers, but has low and high sales seasons based on the time of year. It is especially high during January to March planting when the rice availability is scarce in the market and price rises. The price drops during harvests, so JSK changes over to parcel delivery for maintaining income for loan payments and savings every week.
FSK business has growing opportunities and the major is money transactions since demand is very high in his town. People travel 5 Km for money services to pay home supplies, food, water bill, power bill and school fees. Due to security availability and Vicoba savings, FSK is thinking seriously about investing in this golden opportunity to provide this service and grow his business and income. The research has been done, next step is to register for a money transaction license. To achieve all these business investments, it needs capital of four million shillings to provide this service sustainably.
JSK believes that the businesses’ stable growth will pay a good and quick return so he can start saving for building a comfortable house for his family.
