Utete, TZ – Siasa Primary School starts their Grow-own-Breakfast (GOB) – Mar 2023
KCM collaboration with Siasa Primary school and students’ parents began to implement a breakfast serving program through the “Grow-own-Breakfast program”.
To develop a longtime existing relationship between the school, community and KCM; parents agreed each to contribute 2,200 TZS / US$ 2 every month to pay for breakfast serving ingredients, cooks, water bill, grid and school guard. The Program began in March 2023, with 24 garden beds that will provide feeding benefits to 1,056 students total. Siasa primary school receives primary students from different nursery schools including KLCCDA kindergarten who are serving Grow-own-Breakfast through KCM support. The children, especially those who were fed breakfast in nurseries, are happier to receive it again in this primary school.
On the other hand, the Siasa primary thanks KCM for the gardening tools support, creating gardening club, training and mentoring twice per month in the first quarter, one per month at the second quarter, and then once quarterly later when they have enough knowledge to assist themselves sustainably for self-sufficient production to maintain a daily breakfast serving for improving children health, attendance and performance.
Siasa school is encouraging parents to contribute on time the monthly required full feeding budget per student to be able to serve breakfast every school day to build able future children for their own families, community and nation.
