Ngara, TZ – TMH is happy to receive a VICOBA loan to buy a motorcycle for his crop trading business – Jan 2023
TMH is a Mukirehe Primary school cook who received loan of 700,000 TZS from the Village Community Bank called Mazingira Vicoba Group (MVG). He used the loan to purchase a motorcycle for his corn and groundnuts trading business.
The motorcycle cost 1,500,000 TZS, so TMH sold 700 Kgs from his corn stock for the additional 800,000 TZS he needed to buy the motorcycle to make his dream come true.
TMH faces the challenge of low working capital for bulk purchasing corn and groundnuts during harvests when the price is down. This is due to purchasing the motorcycle. He believes that the motorcycle will provide transportation relief and reliable accessibility to the farmers’ homes for the sustainability of his business. He used to walk to the farmers’ families collecting crops which cost’s him energy and time, now he is enjoying riding to work and business.
TMH is using market days to run his business and earn money to repay the MVG loan, save for motorcycle maintenance and repairs, while finding one million loans to buy corn and groundnuts stock during April harvest when the price is down. He will sell the stock three months later when the prices rise. He expects to harvest 850 Kgs from his own corn field to add to the business stock for more earning to expand his business to nearby regions.
