Kilimanjaro, TZ – Lishe Bora and local government cooperate to deliver water to more families – 30 Nov 2022

MM is one of the 20 new families who now have a new drinking water connections for their homes.

Drinking water was a big challenge for families of Mkyashi village until Lishe Bora garden shop made a change by building up a water project in the area and succeeding in connecting 19 families with spring drinking water for their homes.

The project has brought many health, economic, social and political advantages to the area. This raised the Moshi District government’s interest in cooperating with Lishe Bora to assist even more families in the area, by adding a main pipe water supply that expands implementation and improves efficiency. Since Lishe Bora handed over the project to the government, more than 20 new families in the Mkyashi area have been connected with drinking water for their homes.

Lishe Bora Team members Mr Bosko Shayo and Mary Andrea have been appointed to the district water management body, so they are sharing their knowledge and experiences to assist the government to connect more families in the district. The project is experiencing an old challenge of water bill payment by some families, so the water management body together with government are focusing on providing more education and awareness building within the community about the benefits of paying their water bill.
