Kilimanjaro, TZ – The power of education for FK – 31 Jul 2022
FK has been raised by her grandmother and father after his mother very sadly disappeared following his birth, due to a mental deficiency. He has been looking for his mother for more than 15 years now. He was brought up by his grandmother, who unfortunately has now died, leaving only his father to care for him.
The family was able to strengthen their health because local social enterprise Lishe Bora assisted them to get a tap for clean piped water at their home. This enabled them to grow and eat vegetables to improve the family’s nutrition and health.
FK found studying hard, and was destined to fail the fourth form. Fortunately, Lishe Bora was assisted by Sam from Nashville, TN in USA. Sam provided funds to send FK to St Joseph’s Technical College in Boma Ngombe, southwest of Kilimanjaro, for three years.
When he finishes his studies in late 2023, he will look for a job because he will have skills and a certificate. He plans to help his father, who is now old and does not have the strength to work, and also assist his brothers.
