Ngara, TZ – Mukirehe Primary School sees good corn growth – 15 Dec 2020
Mukirehe school experiences good corn growth despite limited rains.
Mukirehe school was delayed in starting their corn farming this year due to the delayed and limited rains. However, despite these challenges, Mukirehe school students can look forward to continued breakfast serving, along with the help of parent contributions.
Historically, Mukirehe’s farming fields have produced the highest of the three schools for the past 3 years. The same can be said for Mukirehe’s local farmers as well. When asked, the school and local farmers admit they are blessed with fertile soil which may not be comparatively true at the other two schools.
While the school has the process well underhand and is organizationally self-reliant to manage the farms, they are limited by the amount of land available to grow more corn and beans.
SODAT and the school hope to work with parents more this year to decrease the burden on parent contribution.
