Ngara, TZ – School is scheduled to restart and parents provide ingredients – 29 June 2020
Ngara primary schools are scheduled to start classes again at the end of the month. SODAT has some breakfast ingredients to start the school, but due to smaller harvests Parents rallied to contribute to additional ingredients to ensure 100% success.
Kabalenzi, Mukibogoye, and Mukirehe schools each farmed their land to produce corn and successfully finished the project despite the challenges coronavirus presented. However, SODAT successfully expressed the need for ingredients donation from parents and the parents went above and beyond the call.
Because of this parental success, Students at each school will have a full breakfast every day till the end of the school year. A full breakfast will help increase school attendance and help families who depended on children receiving this extra meal each day.
Moving forward, Schools are looking for more ways to increase the harvest quantities from their farms or see if more land is available. Schools would like to be as self-reliant as possible before asking for parent contribution, to lessen the burden on parents.
SODAT, and each primary school hopes to continue working with their communities to share knowledge and increase interest in the farming and breakfast serving program.
