Siem Reap, KH – Raising pigs increases income – 30 Oct 2018
CC has been raising pigs to earn money by selling fattened pigs as well as vegetables, and he has now added cow raising.
For two years prior to expanding their garden, the CC family had been struggling to survive by growing vegetables only during the rainy season. However, things have completely changed now that they have made their income more predictable by expanding their garden and raising pigs and more recently a cow.
This means that the family can now afford to send all their school age children to school, and have been able to buy a motorbike that facilitates transporting their produce to the market. They still face challenges like the market price of vegetables fluctuating, sometimes the prices are very low.
The cycle of wet and dry season which cause flood and droughts is also a seasonal challenge.
The family dream of owning a house of their own in the future.
