Moshi, TZ – Tupendane garden shop update – 29 Aug 2013

Strong seedlings help give a new vegetable garden a strong start!  Therefore, the Tupendane garden shop grows seedlings from seeds in seedling beds, and then transplants the seedlings to small individual bags, where they strengthen for two weeks before being planted in a new garden.  Each new family garden uses over 100 seedlings, depending on what the family wants to plant, which makes seedling production a critical part of the shop’s operations.

To reduce the risk of pest attack and damage from heavy rain, the Tupendane garden shop is planning to build a raised sheltered nursery for their seedlings like the one below.
