Moshi TZ – Tupendane garden – 30 Nov & 17 Dec 2012

Rey, Michael and Chris came from Cambodia, US and UK to pass on knowledge about organic vegetable gardening techniques to our Tanzanian partner called  Tupendane, which appropriately means “to love each other”.

They helped Deo’s Tupendane team build their first vegetable garden at the Better Lives pilot farm in Kahe District, near Mt Kilimanjaro, the week ending 9th November.  The garden has been an immediate success!  The first harvest was after only 5 weeks, when the mamas harvested bean leaves and Chinese cabbage on 17th December.

Deo and his team were very happy with the garden’s first harvest, and the success has encouraged them to help local families start their own vegetable gardens.
