This year Peaksneng Thormacheat Shop trained and assisted 28 families in building organic vegetable gardens. These families received regular mentoring which helped them maintain productive and healthy gardens.
The Rent-to-own program has received a lot of interest from the community, with 3 new homes built in 2016 and a number of applicants.
The shop plans to grow its own vegetable growing and to start an Eco-lodge for visitors to come and learn about sustainable solutions to poverty.

Siem Reap, KH – PYP family improves life by participating in Rent-to-own program – 28 Oct 2016
Poun Ping, his wife and four children are the second family to move into a Rent-to-own home on Peaksneng Thormacheat shop’s development lot. They love their new home and are able to raise two cattle and maintain two productive organic vegetable gardens on their property.

Siem Reap, KH – Kendrick School students from UK help with community programs – 5 Aug 2016
From July 21st – 25th, a group of seventeen students (aged between 15 and 17) and two teachers from Kendrick School in England visited the Peaksneng Thormacheat Garden Shop in rural Cambodia. The students were accompanied by an energetic expedition leader from True Adventure. The students worked enthusiastically with the garden shop team to implement multiple interesting community projects including; compost & natural sprays and organic vegetable gardens. The group also taught proper hand washing techniques and cooked two nutritious rice porridge meals for over one hundred children at the local community center.

Siem Reap, KH – CC imitates brother and expands his organic vegetable garden – 10 Jun 2016
Mr. Klien has imitated his brother, Chea, in expanding his organic vegetable garden in order to grow and sell more vegetables. This year, he was successful in growing a variety of different crops which allowed him to earn a consistent income to support his wife and six children.

Siem Reap, KH – CWC plans to further expand productive garden – 4 Mar 2016
Chea and his family work very hard to improve their lives. They have consistently maintained a productive garden, fattened pigs, raised cows, and now are farming fish. They earn US$30 per month by selling vegetables from their garden and are eager to expand it further.

A consistent income has allowed Pol Iem to improve his family’s life greatly. Since joining the Peaksneng Garden Shop, he has purchased a plot of land, built a small home, planted many fruit trees, and is saving for an improved home for his growing family.

Weun Ti grew up in very poor living conditions which he believes attributed to the health and learning issues he experienced early in his life. He is determined to make a better living environment for his three young children by providing a home that is safe, secure and healthy.
