WASH Infrastructure
Sanitation and Water Action (SAWA) works with schools, communities, NGOs, and local governments across Tanzania to bring water and other services to underserved communities. Projects include public water distribution points, water storage facilities, school sanitation facilities, educational programs, and water delivery systems. In addition to facilitating infrastructure projects, SAWA also works to build the human capacity and community organization necessary to maintain projects long term.

From its office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, SAWA serves communities across Tanzania and works with NGOs and private companies from all over the world. Community organization is a major focus of SAWA’s work. Proper community organization, understanding, and expectations are the way only way to make infrastructures projects sustainable. After implementation communities must be able to maintain and even improve infrastructure independently, or the project will have a short life span.
