Lai wife selling staff at the week endMr. CBL received a micro loan from the Healthy Life Garden Shop, previously known as the Battambang Garden Shop, for capital to start a small business buying and selling fish for a profit.

CBL lives with his wife and five children family in a small house by the river in Battambang. They are unable to afford to buy land or build their own house so they rent the house they are currently living in. The property they rent is not large enough to raise livestock, so they must look for other ways to earn an income.

There are many fisherman in their area so they decided to start buying fish straight from the source and selling to the market in the city of Battambang where they can fetch a better price. After expenses, he is able to earn US$1.25 – US$5 per day from selling the fish.

Mrs. CBL also sells an assortment of vegetables and other goods by their home during the weekend market where she is able to earn US$1.50 – US$4 per day.

In the future he and his wife hope to continue to buy and sell goods on the weekends in order to save for land to build a new home with area to raise livestock.
