Utete,TZ – OAM family garden – 20 Sep 2013

AOM has begun to harvest her tomatoes, eggplant, African eggplant and Chinese cabbage.  She has been harvesting mchicha consistently.  She has also been using compost, which she made herself, to improve the soil.  As a result, she has been able to consistently feed her family and sell surplus vegetables.

The vervet monkey problem has decreased in the last two weeks, but they are still stealing some vegetables.  There is now a new problem!  Chickens have started to break through the garden fence netting and eat some cabbages.  AM and the garden shop team are reinforcing the bottom section of the fence to try and keep the chickens out.
