Battambang, KH – Vegetable garden qualifies family for a piglet loan – 25 Sep 2014

Mrs YT continues to maintain a beautiful and very productive garden.  Her hard work meant that she qualified for a livestock loan, while also caring for five children.The family have five children, four of who are in school. Father works as building laborer and mother plants some vegetable at home. Mrs YT is enjoying working in her organic garden and she really appreciates it because it not only provides healthy food to her children but also gives additional income to her family as well.

The garden looks very green and bountiful. In one harvesting, the gourd plants give nearly 100 gourds. The long bean and morning glory look very fresh with a healthy color. After seeing the effort that YT was putting into the garden, the shop gave the family a loan for buying, fattening and selling two piglets for profit.Mrs YT worked very hard to look after garden and piglets, and after six months YT sold one pig to repay the loan and sold the other for income. The family spent some of the income for supporting the children and their education, and some on wood for a new wall for their house.
