Caba, PH – MKB family housing micro loan – 27 Jun 2014
M and K’s mother passed away in September 2013, however, this did not stop the sisters continuing with their Food Always In The Home (FAITH) garden. In fact, they built an additional garden in order to sell its vegetables to earn an income for their savings. This has enabled them to save consistently for six months in order to be approved for a low interest rate home improvement loan for adding a toilet and bath. The loan was provided by Responsible Financial Consulting Services (RFCS), which provides financial counseling before providing loans.
They decided to apply for this loan because their old toilet and bath building was dilapidated and was flooded every rainy season. They feel that their mother would have been very happy to see this good quality toilet and bath building becoming a reality for the family!
This determination by the Balanag sisters has inspired some of their neighbors, and now a number of families in the area have joined the FAITH Garden program.
