Battambang, KH – Micro-loans helps GP family improve home and transportation – 20 Mar 2014
GP received two micro-loans with the Healthy Life Garden Shop for improving his home and buying a scooter. He qualified for the loans because of his hard work and honesty which have made him a vital part of the shop’s operations. Shop employees have the option to pay off loans by reducing the payment amount directly from their salary which eliminates the risks normally associated with micro-loans for both the shop and the employee.
GP’s first loan was given to him to replace his grass roof with metal sheeting, so that his family could stay dry when it rains. Home improvements like these are important for families who want to connect to electricity. GP dreams of improving his home further so that it can comfortably accommodate his family of seven.
The second loan GP received was to purchase a scooter so that he can get his vegetables to the market easier. Improvements to transportation can improve income earning opportunities through access to new markets and transportation capabilities, as well as time utilization improvements.
With reductions from his shop salary, GP will be able to pay back both loans by May 2015!
