Utete, TZ – STN Family Garden – 11 Dec 2013

The STN family garden is still new so it is too early to report on any major achievements. They finished planting their garden on November 15^th and have worked hard every day since then to start producing food. Their biggest challenge so far has been grasshoppers, which love to feed on young seedlings.

One practice the family has used to help improve the health of their garden is to apply guano – or bat manure, which is one of the most nutritionally-rich manures in the world that can provide a major boost to plant health. We will be monitoring the success of this practice closely.
