Caba, PH – DB family garden – 21 Jul 2013
The DB family has wonderfully independent minded children who are very interested in starting a vegetable garden so that they can qualify for the vegetable garden Savings Program. They want to save money to start a mini store so that they can earn their own income to help their parents, especially their mother who has a Heart Disease. Their mom cannot work because of her condition and she is in and out of the local hospital. They want to earn as much money as they can for their mom’s medication. They are very grateful and happy with this program, because the family of five are living on less than $4 per day.
They have the 100 square meters of land about 150 meters from the house, and a deep well 50 meters from the garden. The Happy Shop team started the garden on July 18, 2013, when they provided the family with a watering can, sprayer, rake, spading fork, shovel, plastic cover for compost, plastic water container, EM1, Molasses, Compost, and the organic garden manual. The Seed and Seedlings provided were String Beans, Bitter Gourd, Tomato, Baguio Beans, Pechay seedlings and Chili seedlings.
