Ngara, TZ – Rain Water Harvesting – 9 May 2013
The cooks at Kabalenzi, Mukibogoye, and Mukirehe primary schools have been finding it difficult to get enough water for cooking the porridge. It is difficult to dig wells deep enough to reach the aquifers, so the students have had to carry water over long distances.
The SODAT team has helped the cooks and children by facilitating installation of gutters and collection tanks for rain water harvesting at all three schools.
This is proving to be a good way to supply fresh water for cooking, drinking and washing hands.
The students are pleased to not have to carry water a long way any more, they now have more energy for study!
