Battambang, KH – CP and LL secure consistent employment – 10 Jul 2012
CP and CBL are two local farmers that were hired by the Battambang Garden Shop manager, Reynaldo Diez, to help him develop and implement an organic garden program that helps families improve their health and teaches food self-reliance. The team of three will work five days a week developing the program and will earn a consistent salary, which will go a long way in helping them start their path of out poverty!
Reynaldo started the program in collaboration with Children’s Future International, a locally based organization aimed to “break the cycle of poverty in Cambodia by providing the country’s poorest and most vulnerable children the opportunity to become educated, self-reliant and compassionate individuals.” The garden shop will provide the expertise for starting a Food Always In The Home (FAITH) organic vegetable garden program and Children’s Future will provide the garden shop with an area to build a model garden and access to families of scholars in their program. Children’s Future’s mission had them targeting the poorest families in the area, and the CP and CBL families are among them.
CP and CBL will work with Reynaldo to make all of the gardens inputs (compost, natural foliar sprays, rice hull charcoal, etc.), reach out to potential families, and implement the gardens.
They are very excited to be earning a good income and cannot wait to see the improvements the income will make in their families’ lives.
