Moshi, TZ – UK High School student visits build hopes and assist sustaining school projects – Aug 2026

Visitors from UK were warmly welcomed by the local community assistance organization called Tupendane, students, teachers, parents and local government representatives at primary schools in Kahe Ward, Tanzania with a lot of joy and celebration. Our guests split up into groups and visited classrooms for sharing knowledge with pupils and teachers.

At the school Grow-own-Breakfast program vegetable and banana gardens, the visiting students and Tupendane volunteers assisted the school children to prepare garden beds, plant vegetable seedlings, and harvest vegetables and bananas for the children’s daily breakfast.

The visiting students also built up some commercial garden beds, because the harvest will be sold at markets to earn income that will assist sustaining the schools’ Grow-own-Breakfast programs by contributing to the cost of agricutural inputs, garden mothers (mama bustanis) and cooks.

At some of the schools, facilities improvements were done for classrooms, irrigation systems, a kitchen. Some of the work involved protecting buildings with paint and making toilet cleaning easier by adding water connections inside the toilet blocks.

With continued partnerships, Tupendane manager Deo hope that this initiative can be expanded to more schools and communities in the Kahe Ward, and strengthen the relationships between Tupendane and rural families for the purpose of improving the welfare of more children.

After all these activities, everyone came together to play football on the field, and when the games ended, we stood as one team, celebrating unity and energy. Later we sat under the big tree holding hands, some playing, others telling stories with laughter. It felt like one family, even though we came from different continents far from each other and here we took care of the relationships we had built.
