Siem Reap, KH – Patience and hard work is important for sustainable living – Mar 2026
This story of Soc is a testament to the quiet strength of a patient heart and the enduring power of hard work.
Soc grew up in the countryside, watching his parents as devoted farmers, toil under the sun. His father and mother’s days were spent raising chickens, planting rice and tenderly nurturing a garden that never ceased to bloom. From his father, Soc learned the most valuable lesson of the earth, great things do not grow overnight they are cultivated with time and care. Despite his hard work, the dream of owning a home felt like a distant dream. In the face of life’s mounting hardships, there were moments when hope seemed to disappear like clouds in the sky. Like for so many, a house of one’s own was a luxury Soc might never reach.

But Soc was a member of a FAITH (Food Always In The Home) Garden program, run by a local company called Peaksneng Garden Shop, which recognized the “seeds” of character he had been planting for years. He finally qualified for the company’s RTO (rent-to-own) home program because of his reputation for unwavering patience and his tireless spirit when working in the garden.
The dream that once felt impossible sprouted into reality. Today, Soc doesn’t just hold a house key; he holds the fruit of a lifetime of perseverance. His journey proves that when you combine the “FAITH” of a gardener with the “perseverance” of a worker, even the humblest beginnings can lead to a place you can finally call home. Now, Soc enjoys a peaceful life in his new home alongside his father, wife and nephews. Surrounded by a lush green garden and his chickens, he has turned his hard work into a sustainable living. He says ‘I am so grateful to Peaksneng shop for helping me make my dream a reality.’
