Kilimanjaro, TZ – Laso Primary school is improving the learning environment – Mar 2026
Laso Primary school and Lishe Bora believe that access to clean water, proper sanitation, fresh vegetables and a daily breakfast, will strengthen students’ health and empower them to learn. They will grow in health, attendance, attention in class, and academically to build better future lives.

To date, Lishe Bora has collaborated with the community to install a water storage tank to supply water for the toilet, handwashing, kitchen and vegetable garden, and also build a school kitchen, to support a sustainable breakfast program for students every school day. They have also repaired teachers’ houses.
The Government has also funded renovating 11 classrooms and adding a new one, helping to ease overcrowding and improve the learning environment. With strong collaboration and leadership from the school committee and local government, they renovated the classrooms and the teachers’ office to create a more supportive learning environment for both students and teachers.
Sanitation remains a critical challenge because over 400 students currently rely on four toilet holes, making one hole per student. Therefore, Lishe Bora and the school committee, is calling on families and partners to support the construction of additional sanitation facilities to protect the students’ health.
