Kikondo, UG – Family’s FAITH garden brings better nutrition, health, income, and savings – Mar 2026
Mrs. WGH brings her baby to work in her family’s FAITH garden while her other three children attend school. About two years ago she was discussing her children’s health with neighbors who were operating FAITH gardens and belonged to the Zinabala VICOBA in Kikondo village. The neighbors told her of the health benefits of adding fresh vegetables to a family’s diet. She decided to try it, spending 10,000 shillings / US$ 3 for vegetables every week. Later, she built a FAITH garden of her own and joined the VICOBA.

Her garden now is five beds and provides vegetables every day. She started saving with Zinabala group the money she previously spent buying vegetables. Every month her savings balance grows by 40,000 shillings / US$ 12.
Since she introduced vegetables to her family diet, she sees her children growing healthier. They no longer fall sick always as was the case before. She used to spend a lot of money on treating her children with many diseases like anemia, coughs, malnutrition, and fever. She also gave birth to a more healthy baby as compared to the older 3.
