Utete, TZ – Kindwitwi Community thanks KCM and Better Lives for water solution for new school launching – Dec 2025

The Kindwitwi village community has expressed sincere appreciation to KCM and its partner, Better Lives, for funding the connection of clean water to the new Kindwitwi Primary School, enabling two classes to officially begin in 2026.

Construction of Kindwitwi Primary School started on April 3, 2024, to address the challenge of students walking 3–4 kilometers daily to Siasa and Katundu primary schools. With the new school, students now walk only about 1 kilometer, greatly improving access and safety, especially for younger children in Grades One and Two.

Previously, pupils faced long distances, poor infrastructure, lack of transport, and the risk of encountering wild animals. Through the village government, families requested the Rufiji District Council to build two classrooms so children could continue their education in a safer and more supportive environment.

Under the leadership of the Village Chairperson, AAN, the community worked together with KCM to connect water to the school. KCM provided materials, while community members dug a 250-meter trench, allowing launching the school to welcome Grade One and Two pupils on January 14, 2026.

Looking ahead, KCM plans to support a school breakfast program using produce from its gardens and later construct a water tank tower and standpipes next to vegetable garden beds to establish a sustainable school garden. This initiative aims to promote nutrition, education, and long-term community development.
