Ngara, TZ – SODAT’s sustainable projects deliver benefits to the community’s Education and Lives – Dec 2025
The strong collaboration between SODAT, schools, and parents is supporting school breakfast programs. The parents have contributed corn and beans to create a sustainable food store that is supplying school breakfast to students and teachers at three schools. This breakfast is increasing attendance and academic performance in three schools.

In 2025, SODAT, school committees, and the village government collected 13,118 kg of corn from parents’ home harvests. Also 5,303 kg of corn was harvested from 7.5 hectares at schools through SODAT’s “Grow Your Own Breakfast” (GOB) program. This initiative provided sustainable school meals for 2,335 students’ and improved their health and learning environment.

SODAT has collaborated with the school committees, and the village government to provide school facilities like new desks, computers, printers, and copy machines, and contribute to building new toilet blocks and improved teachers’ housing.

SODAT has supported local families with low-interest business loans, helping them generate sustainable income. All this support reflects how SODAT and Better Lives are committed to assisting with solving children’s and community challenges through clean water, strengthening health, enhancing education and improving housing.

Despite climate change challenges and delayed rains, SODAT, schools, and parents aim to harvest corn and beans in June 2026 to sustain the food stores until the next harvest season in June 2027.
