Siem Reap, KH – YPC family’s journey from Food Always In The Home garden to family Shop – Nov 2025
The YPC family started their Food Always In The Home (FAITH) garden with the assistance of Peaksneng Thormacheat garden shop back in 2014, and we are so pleased to report that Mrs YPC has now successfully opened a small neighborhood shop. The family were among the first gardeners the shop assisted, and the family’s journey from hardship to stability is a testament to the power of their small steps and perseverance over the last ten years.

Life was far from easy for YC and his wife YP, as they faced the daily challenge of providing for their four children. However, they embraced the vision of the “FAITH garden” as a project aimed at achieving a sustainable livelihood with open hearts and tireless effort. Slowly but surely, YC’s expertise and commitment transformed their small plot. The techniques they learned allowed them to transition from the subsistence level FAITH Garden to a productive commercial garden.

Today, YP’s enterpreneurship has blossomed further. She has successfully opened a small neighborhood shop that serves a dual purpose. First it acts as a direct outlet for the fresh vegetable bounty of her labor by stocking products harvested right from her commercial garden, such as cucumbers, basil, eggplants, and watermelons. Second, the shop is more than just a vegetable stand. It’s a vital hub for the community, supplying essentials like noodles, rice, canned sardines, sugar, salt and other items.
This small shop has become the family’s primary source of income. It is the solid foundation that ensures the children can attend school, paving the way for a brighter future. Crucially, the steady revenue stream is enabling them to diligently pay off their motorbike bank loan, moving them closer to financial freedom.
The shop is not merely a business for the family, it is a symbol of their hard won success and a crucial support system for their daily needs. It is the harvest of their faith and their tireless work. YP says “Thank you to Peaksneng shop team for always giving us the best advice and inspiration”.
