Kilimanjaro, TZ – The Lasso Community collaboration has improved the school kitchen, breakfast serving, and lives – Nov 2025
Lishe Bora continues to drive community wellbeing in Lasso Village, where one dedicated community member took the initiative to renovate the Lasso Primary School kitchen using his own resources.

Lishe Bora community assistance organization supports a Grow-Own-Breakfast (GOB) program that serves each school student a daily breakfast at school. This support has created an awareness and tangible collaborations within the community. The families have been inspired to contribute to the school’s development. These efforts have been noticed by a local advantaged family, who has volunteered to assist with school kitchen improvements, by installing a new roof, windows, and a stove chimney for fresh air flows, creating a safer and healthier space than the old kitchen in the picture, for the cooks to prepare breakfast every school day.
The school’s next urgent priority is expanding its toilet, adding boys’ urinals and more toilet holes to meet basic hygiene, safety, and gender-sensitive standards. This will strengthen students’ health, and increase school attendance and academic performance. Today, 108 boys and 102 girls share only four available toilet stalls (two for boys and two for girls). While all the teacher share a single stall
By supporting this project, Lishe Bora will be assisting with creating a safe and healthy learning environment that will build each child’s health and education and so contribute to better future lives.
