Moshi, TZ – Shoulder to shoulder is how parent collaboration is transforming Kisangasangeni Primary School – May 2025

The parents of Kisangasangeni Primary School have remained committed to maintaining, repairing, and sustaining the school’s vegetable and banana gardens over the past few years. Their dedication has ensured continuous harvests, contributing to both the school’s nutrition and agricultural education.

Tupendane, in collaboration with its partners, has closely supported and strengthened this spirit of parental involvement. To build on this momentum, we introduced the Parents Assistance Award Program (PAAP) – a new initiative designed to recognize and empower parents by assisting them to enhance their children’s learning environment.

Through this program, parents have been energized to take on new roles in school development. Together, we successfully repaired 35 desks, significantly reducing the shortage and improving classroom comfort – especially during examinations and regular lessons.

While we celebrate the achievements of our parents and partners, we also look ahead. One key challenge remains: improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and enjoyment of the school farm. To address this, we envision the construction of a more user-friendly irrigation system that will make farming activities more productive and engaging for both students and parents.
