When families find it difficult to support themselves, children are likely to be affected the most. Therefore, Sunrise Shop has a Food Always In The Home (FAITH) garden program that supports struggling families. The shop conducts training and ongoing mentoring for organic farming to assist families to reach self-reliance so that they can provide proper care for their children.

The RD family applied for the FAITH garden program to Sunrise Shop after hearing the good work done by the families assisted by Sunrise shop. RD has two children and had difficulties providing them with a nutritional meal every day. After hearing that his application was granted he didn’t waste time. He immediately set up his backyard with the help of the Sunrise team and followed carefully the advice on how to grow vegetables the organic way.

After several months, they started harvesting to sell and feed his family from his produce. FAITH Gardening has been a big help in his children’s health and making extra income for his daily expenses. it expands his appreciation for nature and teaches his family to work together. When they have a garden that produces well, they are not entirely dependent on others for food. Robert Dominguez said “Thanks Chico team for helping us finding a solution to our food challenge”.
